This museum began with one man. The owner and founder, Jay Villemarette. His obsession started as a young boy on an outdoor adventure. One first find sparked something bigger. That moment grew into what can safely be called an Osteo Obsession.
Jay diligently perfected the art of skeletal cleaning and articulation. He created value from what most people once viewed as garbage. Bones to Bucks became the business model. Passion fueled the business. Year after year it grew into the massive organization you see today.
As Jay acquired larger and more complex articulated skeletons, he knew a museum was the natural next step. He wanted a place to showcase his passion and allow others to use real osteological materials for education. Today, after nearly 40 years in business, that vision stands strong in Oklahoma City.
Our team, affectionately known as the Skeleton Crew, carries that same spirit forward. You will also meet our mascot, Sir Indiana Bones. Adopted from a local shelter, Indy serves as our animal ambassador. He explores the museum with curiosity and excitement, often greeting new specimens with an enthusiastic rub.
